• Changes in rainfall levels and distribution, in addition to a rise in temperatureareexpected tonegativelyaffect thegrowingconditions andthusthepotentialyieldsofmanycropsinSSA.

• InSenegal,climatechangeincreasestheuncertaintyof theonsetof the rainyseason,andthetotalamountanddistributionof therains(Seneet al.,2006).Recentstudieshavealsosuggestedpossiblefuturedeclinein rainfallandanincreaseinairtemperature(Funketal.,2012).

• These projected changes inclimate and the subsequent impact on yieldswouldcertainlyaggravate the foodsecuritystatusandpoverty levelsofsmallholderswhoselivelihoodsaredependentonagriculture.

• Theobjectiveof this study is toexamine theseeconomic impactsof futureclimateonthelivelihoodof farmpopulations intheNioroareaof Senegal.
